quick vent

Just need to get this off my chest.

There's a women who is always asking me coaching questions. She's not a client. She's not club member. She's not even a friend. She's just a woman. She sends me very complex emails which take a long answer from me in return. Whenever I answer her questions, she disagrees with my answers. I have to wonder why she even asks my opinion when she already apparently knows the answers.

Lori! You are being too nice. Give her a quick answer and tell her you'd love to help but a complete answer requires too much of your time. Or something.

or maybe send her your rates.

tell her the first few emails were free, but if she needs more advice you charge $xx per hour.

give her bad advice and see if she agrees.

A guy at work here calls me Mr Contradiction because I disagree with eveything he says, and if he says the oposite the next day I will disagree with that too. I think it is just him and me not wanting to every agree with him no matter what it is. I did agree that I never agree though, but then realized my mistake and took it back......

I've known quite a few of those over the years. Like yourself, I want to help but there comes a time...especially if she isn't your client, team-mate or FRIEND....just dis her. she is either just messing with you and/or doesn't have any respect for your time.
DELETE....

Here's my theory. I think she thinks that she's right and she just wants me to affirm her. Of course, when I don't do that she doesn't like it. Craziness.

Today she asked my advice on training for a double century and racing next season. She's only been riding four months and is squirrely as all get-out! I told her that I couldn't really recommend either for 2007 and that she should focus on those for long-term goals and should set some shorter-term goals to help her achieve them. She told me I was wrong and that I should be encouraging her.

Ooooohhhh! Let go, Lorri.

I was going to suggest sending her your rates, too. After reading the comments I'm changing my suggestion to sending her DOUBLE your rates.

and my guess is that you have a friend or two that you WISH would ask for a little free advice, but they never do.

funny how the world works, huh?

nah....I charge my friends double! free, schmee. free's for whales.

actually, I don't wait for my friends to ask for advice....I just give it to em. maybe that's why I don't have very many friends.
