Acclimatization Training

How to prepare for hot races? Work in a bike shop, in the second floor loft, where the temperature is at least 40 degrees warmer than on the sales floor, with a boss who makes you feel guilty for turning on the AC.

Think I'm ready? Guess we'll find out tomorrow.

I read this interesting study on pre-cooling your body before athletic activities and how that helps keep your core temp lower for a longer period of time.

Does Ben & Jerry's count as pre-cooling?

Neiter Ben nor Jerry could help today. Man oh man oh man! First lap my power numbers were excellent -- actually hit my all-time one-minute power. Bad positioning flicked me and then the dehydration set in. I just peed for the first time in eight hours (even though I drank more than enough throughout the day). Sick race. It was 112 degrees at the feedzone. My estimate is that only abou 1/4 of the women in all the fields finished.

How did your race go, Soni? I didn't see you after the first few laps. Did you finish?
